Shown here is the introductory spread and a sample spread of a curious little journal. A weather journal. It covers 1892,1893, and 1894. Seems that one James Ewing Mifflin was fascinated with all things weather and wanted to keep a record of his observations. We now it was created by James Ewing Mifflin, but we're not precisely certain as to which James Ewing Mifflin.

There were three: James Sr (1791-1842), James Jr (1841-1926), and James the 3rd (1867-1920). Obviously, James Sr wasn't around during the years of the journal but his son and grandson both were. James Jr was married to Anna Wright. It could be him certainly. But, for James the 3rd, there's no record of a marriage. If he was a bachelor, did he have more time on his hands for such a journal? All conjecture, of course. Yet, this charming record of weather events remain. We can thank James Ewing Mifflin for doing it. We just don't know which one to thank. / This journal was graciously donated to the Lloyd Mifflin Society Archives by Jane Moore of the Mt. Bethel Cemetery board of directors. Indeed, all three James Ewing Mifflins rest at Mt. Bethel Cemetery... during all kinds of weather. Mount Bethel Cemetery
