COLUMBIA'S PIONEERING PHOTOGRAPHERS
Columbia was never a large town. But, it was a railroad town. With any railroad, you get a constant flow of visitors. Some to stay for a while. Some just passing through. During those visits, someone might wish to have a photograph recorded for posterity. For photographers of the day, that meant good business. These photographers could have been born and raised in Columbia. Others may have seen Columbia as a fast buck. So, there was never a shortage of studios to choose from. Some photographers shared studio and processing space. And, when one moved on, there was always another to take their space.
The images you see here are not a likeness of the actual photographer. They show only a segment of one photo of their work. This page of the website is in development as we research more sources.
