First, and foremost, Lloyd was a painter. For painters, the 'still life' is an imperative. When one learns to paint, the still life was a scene one could control. In this case, Lloyd constructed a still life for a photographic study.

The note on this print is by Loretta Minich, one of the Minish sisters who found themselves as conservators to Lloyd's work after Lloyd and his brother, Dr. Houston, were gone. They may not have always done the right thing in such matters, but their hearts were certainly in the right place. And, without their notes accompanying many of Lloyd's works and notes, we'd have no factual references today. So, God bless the Minich Sisters. Yet, in this case, I believe, Loretta is mistaken. This is a photograph and, so far as I know, the scene was never painted. The image below is a better print of the photograph.
