Not precisely sure where Lloyd found this lovely setting, but it almost appears that he shot it through the window of a carriage (there's a hint, on the left, of the window framing). Even so, it's a lovely shot that Lloyd simply couldn't pass up.

Later, when I wasn't even looking for this, I came across this additional image in another folder. This appears to be a 'water level' shot looking toward the same general direction as the one posted here. Note the tree cluster in the distance on both. But, this one certainly looks 'ocean side' to me. Was he in his carriage, stopped for the flowers, then was drawn to the sound of the seaside and just had to investiage furether? A fascinating little mystery.

The good folks at the Pennsylvania State Archives allowed me to photograph the glass plate negative on the first image. The follow-up image is from the Mifflin photo archives at the Columbia Historic Preservation Society.
