Dam Yankees

This photograph attributed to Lloyd Mifflin by the Pennsylvania State Archives, appears to be the remnants of the Wrightsville Dam which was built in 1840 to allow steamboats the depth to pull canal boats across the river. The dam was intentionally compromised in 1863 to impede the Confederates. How long after that before Lloyd recorded this image is not easily determined. In any case, Lloyd was rather adventurous to position himself for such a photographic moment.
